Products & technology - Standard welded membrane filter plates
Standard welded membrane filter plates
Standard welded membrane filter plates from Klinkau are suitable where chamber fillings are homogeneous and process parameters standard. A minimum pre-squeeze filter cake thickness of 1/3 of the chamber volume is required to ensure proper membrane functioning. The combination of membrane filter plate and chamber filter plate (combined pack) keeps initial investment low and guarantees excellent filtration results.
Advantages of standard welded membrane filter plates
- Solid plastic membrane filter plate with welded membranes.
- Variable choice of materials for high chemical resistance.
- Fully separated squeeze medium and filtrate.
- Best washing results with lowest wash water consumption

Einlauf-Position | Centralised feed, decentralised feed, corner feed, external feed eye Other feed eye arrangements can be provided for specific requirements. |
Pressure | Standard products are suitable for maximum filtration pressures of 7 bar and maximum squeeze pressures of 16 bar. Plates also available for higher filtration and squeeze pressures. |
Temperatures | The maximum permissible filtration temperature depends on factors such as filtration pressure, squeeze pressure, the chemical composition of the slurry to be filtered, cycle time and choice of filter material. Membrane cooling or heating is also possible during the filtration cycle. |
Materials | Klinkau filter plates are available in the following materials: polypropylene, modified polypropylene, thermoplastic elastomers, PVDF as well as our own specially developed membrane material. A combination of different materials can be used for the body plate and membrane. |
Technology
Membrane technology has replaced the inefficient phases of pressure filtration, the dewatering to finale residual moisture, with membrane squeezing. Filtering efficiency is therefore maximised throughout the filtration phase and filtration times are significantly reduced. Klinkau's welded membrane filter plate utilizes the different functions of the membrane and the membrane plate.
The plate's function is to cope with the mechanical requirements of a chamber filter plate. It supports the membrane during the filtration process and has a pipped profile so the membrane does not lie completely flat against the plate. This ensures an even lift of when the squeezing medium is applied and supports the build up of an even filter cake.
Klinkau membrane filter plates have two hinge lines that keep the flexion tension at the hinged areas to a minimum during filtration and squeezing, thus extending the membrane's service life. A minimum pre-squeeze cake thickness of 1/3 of the chamber volume is required to ensure proper membrane functioning. The standard welded system is ideally suited for homogeneous slurrys that provide the required chamber fill volume. If a sufficient chamber fill cannot be guaranteed, we recommend the "empty chamber" version. With the "empty chamber" squeezing into underfilled or empty filtration chambers is possible without damaging the membrane.
Filtration processes often have high demands concerning cake washing. The low positioning of the filtrate drainage outlets reduces the risk of wash water by-passes and makes the system ideal for complex cake washing applications. Short wash times and minimum wash water consumption are key benefits of the standard welded membrane filter plate.
